I took our truck off ice yesterday, could have pushed her a little longer but open water on South side of French Narrows Portage is getting larger and with mild temperatures coming next week figured it’s time.Eagles, Gulls and Crows all back but not as many Geese as usual for this time year. Last year I made it to Barepoint May 07 ( did have to push through ice in couple places ) so stay tuned.

Maybe boating in April 2024
Yes April for sure, I’m thinking Barepoint around 25 th. I’ve heard some predictions around 20 th but thinking that’s too early , still a lot to melt. I’m building a floating dock on ice and had to drag it away from boathouse as there are large holes opening up. Water level is low, no run off, 1/4” rain on 8 th. Only snow left on island is where North wind drifts in and sun doesn’t reach.
Still hoping for April as it doesn’t happen a lot ,,, or early may is would be great also
